EMS Program Coordinator Update

Mick Stewart is a Paramedic and EMS Educator based in Clayton, North Carolina. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began his career as a photojournalist and video producer, working in the field for more than a decade. Mick completed his paramedic training at Johnston Community College, earning his credential in 1999. His teaching career began in 2000 with the American Heart Association, National Association of EMTs, and EMT-Intermediate programs. In 2008, he joined Johnston Community College as a full-time Paramedic Instructor and was appointed EMS Program Director in 2017. He has served as a provider and EMS educator for over 30 years. In June 2023, Mick joined the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services as an Education Specialist for the eastern region. In this role, he supports EMS educational institutions, instructors, and students across the region, contributing to the advancement of paramedic and prehospital education statewide. He holds credentials as a Nationally Registered Paramedic, an NCOEMS Level II Paramedic Instructor, and multiple AHA and NAEMT instructor certifications. In addition to his work in EMS, Mick continues to operate his family business, Mick Stewart Photography, providing professional photography and video production services.
