EMS Program Coordinator Update

San Juan C. Timmons, a native of Guilford County, is an accomplished Emergency Medical Services leader, educator, author, and administrator with more than 30 years of experience in the EMS profession. Throughout his career, he has served as a field paramedic, operations manager, community college EMS Program Coordinator, and Department Chair for EMS and Fire Programs, contributing significantly to the development of EMS education and workforce excellence across North Carolina.
Since 2017, Timmons has served as the Education Specialist for the Central Regional Office of the North Carolina Office of EMS, where he supports educational quality, program development, and professional advancement throughout the region.
His educational background includes an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services, a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership in the Public Sector from North Carolina State University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Management and Leadership.
In 2023, Timmons expanded his commitment to leadership development by authoring and publishing the book The Guiding Principles of Leadership, which shares practical leadership insights drawn from his extensive experience in emergency services, education, and organizational leadership.
Above all, San Juan’s greatest joy is his family. He cherishes time spent with his wife of 25 years, their four daughters, and their grandson. A devoted servant-leader, he is passionate about strengthening both people and communities through faith, education, and service. Through decades of leadership in public service, emergency medical services, and higher education, he has dedicated his life to developing others, empowering future leaders, and inspiring individuals to pursue excellence, integrity, and purpose in every area of life.
