Jennie began her EMS journey in 1982, when she became an EMT. In 1985, she received her Cardiac Care Technician certification and, a few months later, became a Paramedic. She was hired by the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue (VA) in 1985 and enjoyed a 30 ½-year career there, beginning as a firefighter/paramedic and advancing through the ranks to Battalion Chief. She held numerous roles throughout her career, including operations, training, and administrative assignments. She retired from Prince William and accepted the position as Chief in Dare County EMS in 2016. All in all, she has been involved in EMS for 44 years.
