Summary:
What if your next critical call could be practiced before it ever happens? Simulation doesn’t require high-tech mannequins or large budgets. Its intention and attention to detail that matters. This session shows the idea that effective simulation can be implemented by all EMS agencies. Attendees will discover how to create realistic, protocol-driven scenarios, strengthen clinical decision-making, and turn everyday training into high-impact learning.
Objectives:
- describe how simulation-based training can be implemented beyond the classroom and into EMS agencies regardless of budget, staffing, or equipment limitations
- demonstrate methods for developing realistic, protocol-driven, simulation scenarios that reinforce clinical decision making and operational readiness
- Identify strategies to integrate simulation into existing training programs to support competency validation, continuing education, and system-wide quality improvement
- discuss how simulation can be used to support a culture of safety by allowing providers to practice high-risk, low-frequency events in a controlled environment.
- discuss importance of documentation of training and opportunities such as accreditation
